Started my career in the music business and in love with it. Things changed I changed and I left my corporate job, its crippling workload, and the stress that was making me sick. I was newly diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and faced chronic health issues at age 35. While I was recovering and looking for another job, I enrolled in yoga teacher training, desperate to learn more about how to take care of myself. By the time I had completed my 200-hour training, I had vowed not to go back into the corporate world. During my 200-hour training, I began doing community service at Loving Arms Cancer Support Group. Every Tuesday I along with others would lead meditation and gentle hands-on massage for cancer patients and their caregivers. This is where I learned that being of service to others is the thing I find most rewarding in the world.
Yoga was a lifesaver for my body and the only relief from my arthritis. I wanted to learn why, and how to help others like myself, so I got certified in “Yoga for Arthritis” with Dr. Steffany Moonaz from John Hopkins University. I am currently enrolled in the Optimal State Yoga Therapy training program with Amy Wheeler, Ph.D. out of California. I have my own personal yoga therapy mentor. I have taught over 5000 hours of yoga in the past six years. I also keep up with my own personal practice all most every day. I work part-time for the American Red Cross as an instructor trainer certifying people in Basic Life Support, First Aid, and CPR. I recently had to put my training methods to the test when I helped treat a collapsed jogger in full cardiac arrest. Learning that he’d survived and will continue his life as a Father, Husband, and Doctor of Neurology was an inspiring and validating experience. I received a ‘Citizen Lifesaving Award Citation from the Cobb County Fire Department for my efforts. I love teaching!
I teach yoga therapy two days a week at an inpatient recovery center as well as classes at a senior living center.
It is my mission to be of service to my community, and I live every day believing “we rise by lifting others”.
I love music, dogs, audiobooks, podcasts my family, and Sundays.
Once I graduated from college I worked in the music business for several years before becoming a yoga teacher.
