I started my career in the music industry and absolutely loved it, but life took a turn. I found myself overwhelmed by a corporate job that was affecting my health, especially after being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at 35. As I recovered and searched for new opportunities, I enrolled in yoga teacher training, hoping to learn how to care for myself. By the end of my 200-hour training, I made a life-changing decision: I would not go back to the corporate world.
During my training, I began volunteering at the Loving Arms Cancer Support Group, offering meditation and gentle massage to cancer patients and their caregivers. This experience opened my eyes to the joy of helping others, and I knew I had found my true calling.
Yoga became a lifesaver for my body, especially in managing my arthritis. I wanted to understand why, so I pursued certification in "Yoga for Arthritis" with Dr. Steffany Moonaz from Johns Hopkins University. I then completed a 1,000-hour Yoga Therapy program under the guidance of Amy Wheeler, Ph.D. Over the past seven years, I’ve taught more than 10,000 hours of yoga, and I maintain my own daily practice.
Today, I work as a yoga therapist at an alcohol recovery center and teach classes at a senior living facility. I’m also certified to train people in Basic Life Support, First Aid, and CPR. I put these skills to the test by helping save the life of a collapsed jogger who went into cardiac arrest. The experience was deeply inspiring, and I was honored to receive a Citizen Lifesaving Award from the Cobb County Fire Department.
I’m passionate about teaching and serving my community. I believe that “we rise by lifting others,” and I live by that every day.
In my free time, I love music, dogs, audiobooks, podcasts, spending time with my family, and enjoying lazy Sundays.
